We all do it, we decide one thing and then for some reason or another we change our mind. It could be a little thing, like what we are going to wear to town. It could be a big thing. Some decisions are fast, spur of the moment types...others may be slow and agonizing.
To keep things real in writing you can't have characters who always decide something and then stick with it. It's just not natural. Well, unless your character is just made that way. I've seen comments on books complaining how the character couldn't make up his or her mind...this is natural though. As long as reasons are given and it's well written it will work.
In my debut novel Sweet Light, my main character Shara changes her mind more than once. Some of this is due to her age and innocence, her inexperience. Sometimes she just doesn't know what to do. At times, she even knows she is making the wrong decision at the time. With three men vying for her love, she certainly has some decisions to make.
